Of course, there are many breeds that are good for you to keep up with. One good breed for you to have during your golden years would be a Miniature Schnauzer.
They are rather affectionate.
Miniature Schnauzer are rather affectionate dogs which is good for anyone who wants to cuddle as much. This does not mean that other dogs are not affectionate, as it is pretty much a common trait in all of them. No one could practically resist the cuddliness and cuteness of these little pups. This is mainly because they are small and soppy creatures. These pups just want to cuddle with their companion, which is a great treatment for anyone who has now entered the phase of loneliness.
Schnauzers should be highly maintained and regarded.
With age, then this might not be such a bad idea after all for you to take into consideration. If you are lonely, then this would mostly mean that you have little to no responsibility on your part. Having a dog would then require you to do some grooming which means, you will have some responsibility to do. With Schnauzers, they do not require you to keep on combing them all day, but they do need some cleaning and grooming from time to time.

If you need more responsibility, then you could also train these pups at your own will. They are good listeners as well which is a major plus for you if you are fond of giving out commands.
